Get Kidzly Running in Under 10 Minutes

Follow these simple steps to install, pair, and configure Kidzly on any Android device.

Child's Device

Android 6.0 or later. The Kidzly app runs silently in the background on the child's phone or tablet.

Parent's Device

Any smartphone or tablet (Android or iOS) to monitor and manage controls through the parent dashboard.

Internet Connection

A working Wi-Fi or mobile data connection on both devices for real-time monitoring and alerts.

Installation & Setup

Download the APK

Visit the Download page on this website from any browser on the child's Android device. Tap the download button to save the kidzly.apk file.

⚠ Allow Unknown Sources

Because Kidzly is distributed outside the Play Store, you need to allow installation from unknown sources once:

  1. Open Settings → Security (or Privacy on newer Android)
  2. Enable "Install unknown apps" for your browser app
  3. Return to the downloaded APK and tap Install

Install & Grant Permissions

Open the downloaded APK and follow the on-screen prompts to install Kidzly. During setup, the app will request several permissions required for monitoring features:

Location permission — for GPS tracking and geofencing

Usage access — to track which apps are used and for how long

Device administrator — to enforce screen time locks and prevent removal

Accessibility service — for app blocking and web filtering

Pair Parent & Child Devices

After installation, Kidzly generates a unique pairing code on the child's device. Open the parent app on your phone and scan the QR code (or enter the code manually) to link the devices.

Once paired, you'll immediately see the child's device in your parent dashboard and can start configuring rules.

💡 Tip: Keep both devices on the same Wi-Fi network during initial pairing for the fastest connection.

Set Your Rules & Relax

From the parent dashboard, configure screen time limits, blocked apps, geofences, and alerts. Kidzly enforces everything automatically — even when you're not looking.

Common Installation Issues

This usually means "Install unknown apps" is not enabled for your browser. Go to Settings → Security → Install unknown apps, find your browser, and enable it. Then re-open the APK file.

Kidzly runs as a background service and may not show a launcher icon on the child's home screen by design. Check the app drawer or look for the Kidzly notification in the status bar.

Ensure "Allow all the time" is selected for location permission (not just "While using"). On Android 10+, go to Settings → Apps → Kidzly → Permissions → Location → Allow all the time. Also make sure battery optimisation is disabled for Kidzly.

Screen time enforcement requires Usage Access permission. Go to Settings → Digital Wellbeing / Usage Access → Kidzly and enable it. You may also need to enable the Accessibility Service for full app blocking support.
