Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Kidzly, answered clearly.
General
Kidzly is an Android parental control app that helps parents monitor screen time, block apps, track location, set geofence alerts, and filter web content — all from a parent dashboard on their own device.
Kidzly's core features are free to use. Current APK releases are provided at no cost. Future versions may introduce optional premium features, but basic protection will always remain available without payment.
Kidzly installs on Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) and later on the child's device. The parent monitoring dashboard can be accessed from any modern Android or iOS device through the parent app. An iOS version for the child's device is planned for a future release.
No. Kidzly is downloaded directly from kidzly.online as an APK file. You do not need a Google account on the child's device. A Kidzly account is created during app setup with your own email address.
Installation
Download the APK from kidzly.online/download. Enable "Install unknown apps" in Settings → Security for your browser. Tap the downloaded file and follow the installer. See the full setup guide.
Android restricts installation of apps from outside the Play Store by default. You need to grant permission once to the browser or file manager you use to download the APK. This setting is found in Settings → Security (or Privacy) → Install unknown apps.
Kidzly requires: Location (for GPS tracking), Usage Access (to monitor app usage), Device Administrator (to enforce locks and prevent removal), and Accessibility Service (for app blocking). Each permission is explained during setup with instructions on how to grant it.
Features
Kidzly uses Device Administrator mode to prevent uninstallation without the parent PIN. The Accessibility Service continuously enforces app blocking rules. No technical protection is completely bypass-proof, but Kidzly provides strong deterrence against casual circumvention.
Kidzly uses efficient background location updates with adaptive intervals. The impact on battery life is typically 5–10% per day depending on the device and update frequency settings. We recommend disabling aggressive battery optimisation for Kidzly to ensure reliable tracking.
Yes. Multiple child devices can be paired with the same parent account. Each appears as a separate profile in the parent dashboard with independent settings and activity feeds.
Privacy & Data
No. Kidzly monitors app usage time, location, and web browsing — it does not read the content of messages, social media posts, emails, or photos. We believe in appropriate boundaries even in parental monitoring.
Activity data, location history, and account information are stored on Kidzly's secure servers. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We do not sell or share data with third parties. See our full Privacy Policy.
Yes. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the parent dashboard. Deletion is permanent and irreversible. Contact support if you need assistance.
Troubleshooting
Check that "Install unknown apps" is enabled for your browser in Settings → Security. Also ensure you have at least 50 MB free storage. If the APK file seems corrupt, try re-downloading it from kidzly.online/download.
Some Android manufacturers (especially Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, and OnePlus) aggressively kill background apps. Go to Settings → Battery → Battery Optimisation → Kidzly and select "Don't optimise". Also add Kidzly to any app whitelist or protected apps section in your device's settings.
